How AimScan is organised
AimScan works like a paper logbook with three levels:
- Folder: one per discipline and setup, for example "10m Air Pistol" or "50m Rifle Prone". The folder holds the target type, scoring rules, calibre and default firearm.
- Session: one training or match. A session has a date, club or range, lane, firearm, ammunition and notes.
- Target: one scanned card with its photo and shots. A session can hold as many targets as you shoot.
The tab bar at the bottom takes you to Folders, Ammo, Firearms and Settings. On a tablet in landscape the folder list stays on the left and the selected folder opens on the right.
1. Create a folder
- On the Folders tab, tap New folder.
- Give it a name, then search for your target under Discipline / target. You can search by federation (ISSF, KNSA, NRA), distance (25m) or firearm (air rifle).
- Check the suggested calibre and scoring method. AimScan fills in the usual values for the discipline. See Scoring rules.
- Set shots per target, for example 5 for a 25m precision card or 1 for 10m air rifle cards with one shot each.
- Optionally pick a firearm, ammunition, position and series grouping. Tick Favourite to pin the folder to the top.
- Tap Save. You return to the folder list with the new folder highlighted.
Below the discipline you see its key sizes: distance, diameter of the black, ring values and the inner ten. If AimScan shows "Ring sizes are estimated", measure the black on your own card and compare.
2. Start a session
Open the folder and tap New session. AimScan creates a session for today, at the last club you used, and opens the camera screen straight away.
3. Scan your first target
- Hold the target against a bright window or screen so the holes light up.
- Tap Take photo of target and photograph it straight from above, with the whole black in view.
- AimScan finds the target and the shots in a second or two and shows the score per shot.
- Check the shots. Move, add or delete one if needed.
- Tap Next target to scan the next card, or Save to go back to the session.
Read Scanning targets for tips that give the best recognition.
4. Read your result
The session screen shows the total score, inner tens, average per shot and percentage of the maximum, plus a plot of every shot with your group centre and mean radius. Tap the plot for the score analysis.
